Because He Lives: New Easter Song Debuts

On Good Friday, April 18, 2025, the official youth channels of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints debuted a new Easter song and video titled “Because He Lives.” The moving piece features Karen Cole at the piano, performing a song centered on the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Inspired by the Savior’s Sacrifice
Written by Nik Day, Darla Day, and Carrie Yost, “Because He Lives” speaks of redemption, grace, and the hope found in the Savior’s Resurrection. The lyrics reflect on Christ’s atonement and testify of personal transformation through His love.
A Visual and Musical Tribute
The music video showcases Karen Cole singing and playing piano on stage, while powerful scenes from the Savior’s life are projected behind her. The spiritual message is matched by an artistic presentation that invites reflection and reverence.
Available Across Platforms
The song is available for listening and sharing on Strive to Be’s YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Apple Music, and Spotify channels. Nik Day, who also helped write the piece, performs the version released to audio platforms.
Global Interfaith Collaboration
In a special version to be released Easter Sunday, April 20, five singers from different faith backgrounds perform “Because He Lives” together. This collaboration highlights the shared joy in Christ’s Resurrection among believers worldwide.
Additional Easter Media
Earlier this week, the Church also released a new version of “Gethsemane,” performed by a children’s choir during October 2024 General Conference. The touching performance has already drawn hundreds of thousands of views online, resonating deeply with families and individuals preparing for Easter.
