History

Woodstock Park Off Leash Dog Area, located in Portland’s southeast Woodstock neighborhood, offers a fantastic space for dog owners to enjoy.

Spanning 14.11 acres, the park’s designated off-leash area is nestled within the larger 5.71 hectare Woodstock Park.

The park’s boundaries are defined by SE Steele Street to the west, SE Harold Street and the Woodstock School to the east, SE 47th Avenue to the north, and SE 50th Avenue to the south.

Operating daily from 5:00 AM to Midnight, Woodstock Park has a rich history dating back to 1921, when it was operated by Portland Parks & Recreation.

Initially, the park hosted high school softball games and even outdoor movies.

Notably, the park has a unique history tied to an annual event called “Unimproved Road,” reflecting its past as a site for road maintenance and development.

In 2012, budget cuts nearly eliminated the restroom facility and reduced the daily care provided, highlighting the ongoing need for community support to ensure the park's continued accessibility and upkeep.

The park provides a diverse range of amenities, including a dog off-leash area, horseshoe pits, paved paths, picnic tables, a playground, and public art.

Soccer and softball fields, alongside tennis courts, are also present for those seeking alternative recreational activities.
