West Hills County Park Dog Run in Huntington, New York, offers a unique experience for dog owners, blending recreation with a significant piece of local history.

Situated within the larger West Hills County Park, the dog run is specifically designed for dogs to exercise and play.

The park’s origins are deeply connected to the C&O Railroad’s prominence in Huntington’s past.

Originally a hub for the “Big Four” railroad magnates – Collis P. Huntington, Leland Stanford, Mark Hopkins, and Charles Crocker – the area witnessed considerable development and activity.

Tragically, the site was also the location of a devastating flood in 1937, claiming five lives and causing extensive damage.
