History

dog-parkPaws In The Park, located in Aurora’s Lincoln Park, started as a grassroots initiative born from a community’s desire for a safe and designated space for dogs to socialize and exercise.

Recognizing the lack of suitable areas for dogs to run off-leash, a group of local dog owners began advocating for a dedicated dog park within Lincoln Park.

These early organizers, passionate about the well-being of their canine companions, tirelessly pursued approval with the Aurora Parks and Recreation Department.

After numerous meetings, petitions, and demonstrating the community's support, the park received the green light in 2018 and opened its gates in the fall of that year.

The initial design focused on providing two separate areas – one for small breeds and another for larger dogs – separated by a sturdy chain-link fence to ensure the safety and comfort of all visitors.

From the beginning, dog-parkPaws In The Park has been a testament to the power of community engagement and a commitment to enriching the lives of both dogs and their owners.

It continues to grow and evolve thanks to ongoing feedback and support from the Aurora community.
