History

The Potrero Hill Mini-Park Off Leash Dog Area in San Francisco’s historic Potrero Hill neighborhood offers a unique blend of urban convenience and natural charm.

Its origins trace back to the 1970s, evolving from a small, informal gathering space within the grounds of the California Culinary Academy.

The Academy occupied a significant portion of the land, and the area naturally became a place for local residents and their dogs to socialize.

In 2017, the Academy relocated, leaving behind a footprint that was transformed into this dedicated off-leash dog park.

The park’s design incorporates the remnants of the historic powder blue water tower, demolished in 2006 as part of a seismic upgrade, adding a layer of local history to the experience.

Today, the Potrero Hill Mini-Park remains a popular spot for dog owners and visitors alike, providing a safe and enjoyable space nestled within the heart of San Francisco's vibrant Potrero Hill neighborhood.
