History

Dogpatch USA: A Fayetteville Landmark with a Wild History Located behind the Animal Services facility at 1640 Armstrong Road in Fayetteville, Arkansas, Dogpatch USA is a unique dog park steeped in decades of amusement park history.

Established in 1968 by the Nance family, this sprawling park has undergone numerous transformations, evolving from a simple attraction to a beloved Fayetteville landmark.

Initially named simply "Dogpatch," the park quickly gained popularity, showcasing a range of thrilling rides.

The centerpiece was the “Monster Mouse,” a massive Allan Herschell Company-manufactured rodent that entertained visitors from 1968 until 1991.

This iconic ride was later replaced by the “Wild & Wooly Toboggan” in 1993, which continued the park’s energetic spirit.

Throughout its operation, Dogpatch USA offered more than just rides.

Guests enjoyed the “Earthquake McGoon’s Brain Rattler,” a toboggan roller coaster, and a funicular tram that transported visitors from the parking lot.

The park’s capacity could accommodate 1,700 guests per hour, a testament to its popularity.

The park’s history includes significant sales and ownership changes.

Fred Mullins opened an RV park on portions of the property after purchasing land from Nielson.

The park was sold in June 2020 for $1.12 million.

Now operated by Dog Park Animal Services – Fayetteville, Dogpatch USA continues to provide a unique recreational space for dog owners in Fayetteville.
