History
New Smyrna Cathedral in Fort Myers, Florida, stands as a vibrant and historic cornerstone of the community.
Established in 1988, the church’s origins trace back to a group of families seeking a traditional, Reformed Baptist church experience.
Initially meeting in various rented spaces, the congregation’s growth quickly necessitated a permanent home.
This led to the acquisition of the current stunning Gothic Revival-style building in 1993.
The Cathedral's design is a significant element of its story.
The building was meticulously crafted by renowned architect James B. Bales, who also designed the historic Fort Myers Woman’s Club and the Samuel R. Myers House.
The design reflects a commitment to beauty and reverence, embodying the church’s dedication to worship.
Throughout its history, New Smyrna Cathedral has remained steadfast in its commitment to biblical teaching, a strong emphasis on discipleship, and a welcoming atmosphere for all.
It has grown into a thriving congregation known for its music ministry, outreach programs, and dedication to serving the Fort Myers community.
The Cathedral continues to uphold its founding values while embracing contemporary worship styles.
