History

Thrift Store Thrift World in Omaha, Nebraska, began as a humble operation born from a community’s desire to reduce waste and provide affordable treasures.

Founded in 2008 by local resident, Harold Peterson, the store started as a small collection of donated furniture and household goods accumulated from his own estate sales and with the help of friends and neighbors.

Harold, a retired carpenter, had a passion for repurposing items and a deep respect for the environment.

Initially operating out of a rented warehouse space, the store rapidly gained a loyal following within the Omaha area.

Word of mouth spread quickly, fueled by the incredible variety of items available – everything from vintage clothing and furniture to kitchenware, electronics, and books.

The store’s success was built on a simple premise: offering quality used goods at significantly reduced prices.

Over the years, Thrift Store Thrift World expanded its operations, moving to a larger facility in the West Omaha area in 2012.

The store’s reputation grew, attracting shoppers from across the state seeking unique finds and supporting a sustainable business model.

Harold Peterson continues to oversee operations, ensuring the store’s commitment to affordability, quality, and community involvement.

It’s now a significant contributor to the local economy, diverting tons of materials from landfills and providing a valuable shopping experience for bargain hunters.
