History

Heritage Baptist Church, located in Bella Vista, Arkansas, boasts a rich and remarkably impactful history dating back to 1886.

Originally established as a modest log cabin church, the congregation has grown into a community cornerstone.

The church's story is particularly notable due to the visionary leadership of Pastor Lee, who has served as the church’s fourth pastor.

In 1952, a significant milestone occurred with the construction of a new sanctuary designed to accommodate Christian theatre productions.

This innovative space hosted renowned productions like “The Robe” (1957 and 1959) and “Ben Hur” (1961), with a memorable Technicolor recording of Pastor Lee delivering a sermon in 1954.

Pastor Lee’s ministry extended far beyond the church walls.

He passionately preached “Pay-Day Someday” over 1,200 times across numerous locations including Bible conferences, state capitol buildings, churches, universities, youth camps, and ballparks, reaching an estimated three million people.

He also authored 56 books based on his sermons.

The church has been deeply involved in countless community initiatives.

Volunteers dedicated an estimated 30,000-35,000 hours to projects benefiting 40 schools, 2 post-secondary schools, 44 churches, 55 family homes, 14 parks, 9 city/government buildings, 16 hospitals, 47 ministries, and 10 Memphis City School football fields.

Demonstrating their commitment to safety, the church provided a copy of “Fireproof” to local fire stations.

Heritage Baptist Church’s legacy is one of dedicated service and impactful ministry.
